Kali linux languages - Can't write in arabic inside apps!

-1

Days ago I got some updates for my kali but after updating I found out that when I set my keyboard language to Arabic and start typing it doesn't type anything!
That was inside google chrome so I tried the same in Firefox, gedit and even the search box in Rhythmbox and got the same result!
But I noticed that I can type in Arabic inside kali search box so it must be an apps related bug.

What I tried to fix this problem is:

  1. I did a full-upgrade to kali and still the same problem

  2. I tried dpkg --configure -a and dpkg-reconfigure locales but
    got the result

  3. I even tried to remove Arabic from the chosen keyboard languages and
add it again but still the same problem, lol

Executing lsb_release -a returns the below:

No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Kali
Description: Kali GNU/Linux Rolling
Release: 2019.1
Codename: n/a

and cat /etc/os-release returns

PRETTY_NAME="Kali GNU/Linux Rolling"

Given the tools that you use (Chrome, Firefox, gedit, Rythmbox), it looks like you should much better use a different (general-purpose) distro rather than such a special-purpose one like Kali…

  • lol, should I say "I tried to type in burp suite" to look like I know kali!?

  • I have used it as primary system for about 2 years and still using it. I faced a lot of problems that's bigger than this and solved it but not able to solve this one!

You certainly can use Kali Linux as your primary system, but it does not mean it is a good idea to. Even the developers of Kali Linux say so. But YMMV.
