Bind media controls to shortcut on Windows

0

I have a laptop that comes with a play/pause key accessible through the Fn key, and therefore, emulated as a physical key. However, there is only this play/pause key, and no previous and next keys.

On Ubuntu, I was able to define global shortcuts (I chose ctrl + alt + P and ctrl + alt + N) that trigger a system media: previous and media: next signal. Applications that respond to these signals behave exactly as expected, and exactly as if I had physical next/previous buttons and I pressed them.

I am trying to reproduce this behaviour on Windows 10 build 17763, on the lowest layer possible.

Ideally, I'm looking for a built-in solution that emulates pressing the physical key. if it isn't implemented, or if there is no workaround, third-party software is my second choice.
