WiFi disconnects when lid closes
I've configured my laptop to do nothing when the lid is closed, by setting Suspend when laptop lid is closed
to off
in GNOME TWEAKS and overall it works fine (I'm running on Ubuntu 18.04.1). However, as soon as I close the lid (I have an external screen), the WiFi disconnects and the WiFi card isn't detected anymore afterwards, so I have to reboot my computer to make it work. This seems like a common problem online, but I haven't figured out how to solve it in my case, although trying the following:
1) set HandleLidSwitch=ignore
and HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore
in /etc/systemd/logind.conf
as well as IgnoreLid=true
in /etc/UPower/UPower.conf
and then run sudo service systemd-logind restart
2) options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
in /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
3) wifi.powersave = 2
is set in /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
I've run dmesg
after closing the lid to identify potential erros, and something interesting appeared (last 5 lines):
