Windows 10 Email

Windows 10 mail account quit syncing around the end of August 2018. Foolwed every suggestions I can find. First I deleted the account as suggested. Then upon trying to recreate it, it gives an error message "something went wrong" and the error 0x8004005. Windows troubleshooter says it finds things wrong and fixes them but account addition gives the same error. Removed Mail app and reinstalled with the same result. Created a new local account and tried to add an email account to mail, same result. Running sfc /scannow finds no abnormality. Allowed access for mail and calendar in security. Google advanced search show recent articles suggesting solutions (last month of so), but when you go to the link, they're not recent at all. Everything I do have the same result. If theres a fix out in the wild, I can't find it. Anyone have any suggestion?
