i3wm: Some keys does not worki in combination with certain other keys (Super, Shift, etc.). How can I fix it?

0

My keyboard works correctly in a Desktop Environment mode (KDE in example) and all the keys works pretty fine if I use them alone, but when I use in combination with other keys like AltGr, Super, Shift, etc. They aren't working.

The scenery, nevertheless, isn't regular, in example:

Right Shift+[e/E] should reproduce the opposite case but it does nothing.
Left Shift+[e/E] does work.

Super+d should show dmenu but it doesn't so I had to make a new keybinding for such task.

Super+3, Super+Shift+3 should show and/or send the current window to the workspace number 3 but it does not work.

In a web browser, Alt+3 should take focus to the tab number 3, but it does not work.

However, d, 3, e, Super, Shift do work individually or in combination with other keys. But these specific keys does not work.

Other custom keybindings like Super+Fn+Print should run a custom bash script but it does not work. Nevertheless, the Fn key do work with the special function keys F1 to F12 and other special keys.

Please have in mind that under KDE, all the keys do work pretty fine. But I need to use i3wm for my daily regular production workflow.

  • You should maybe share your i3 config file so people can take a look at it.
