touchpad cursor blocks after upgrading to 18.04

0

I have updated to linux 18.04 (it's a pop os machine, which was based on the previous version of ubuntu) using do-release-upgrade and now the touchpad cursor freezes if I move it a bit quickly.

That is, if I move it slowly and steady it works, but as soon as I accelerate a little bit it blocks, and then I have to raise my finger and put it down once again. All this is really annoying.

The usb mouse works ok, on the other hand.

Some info about my linux

How do I make my Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition touchpad work correctly in 18.04?

Synaptic touchpad on laptop not working

this workaround sort of works, but the touchpad configuration is lost (no click on touch, no two-fingers scroll, etc.) as pointed in here
