Why are internal variables duplicated in qmake 2.01a

I tried changing the variables in qmake, via qmake -set, but I got a duplicate variable with new value.
Example:
C:UsersUser>qmake -query
QT_INSTALL_BINS:c:Qtmsvc20134.8.6bin
QT_INSTALL_BINS:C:Qtqt-src-4.8.6-unpatchedbin
Is there any way to fix this without updating qmake?
