Trouble installing Lubuntu 14.04 on Acer Aspire LMi laptop
The issue is that neither a bootable USB nor a bootable DVD is recognised and it just keeps loading the Windows XP OS installed on the laptop. Both bootable media have been created as per the manual and I already have installed a version of Lubuntu on my desktop without any trouble. The difficulty seems to lie in the BIOS being unable to recognise the USB or DVD. I've also tried an external DVD drive and it won't pick that up in the BIOS either.

Support for 14.04 ends soon. So, first thing to do is to obtain the ISO for a supported release like 16.04 or 18.04, both "LTS". Then make sure the instillation media has been properly "burned", preferably use USB and make sure it is selected as the boot device in BIOS/UEFI.

Thanks Gabriela, the USB and DVD are properly burned. The problem is that I can't select the boot device in BIOS/UEFI. That option does not appear in the boot menu.
