Issue using Kafka Standalone Connect with Squid rotation logs

0

I need help with the following scenario:

A Kafka standalone connect is running reading a squid proxy file:

/opt/kafka/bin/connect-standalone.sh -daemon /opt/kafka/config/connect-standalone.properties /opt/kafka/config/connect-file-source.properties

My connect-file-source.properties:

name=squid-access
connector.class=FileStreamSource
tasks.max=1
file=/var/log/squid/access.log
topic=myproxy

Everything works fine until the access.log is rotated. Since Kafka maintains a connect.offset file, it stops to ingest data when comparing with the new access.log file. The only solution so far is to delete the connect.offset file, and restart the connect to create another one.

The question here is: how can I make Kafka Connect read the newly created rotation file without the need of delete/restart?
