Modify standby condition of one specific external drive and not any other
It seems my external hard drive comes configured to go to sleep after just 3 minutes:
sdparm --flexible -6 -l --get SCT /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb: Intenso External USB 3.0 1402
SCT 1800 [cha: y, def:18000, sav:1800] Standby_z condition timer (100 ms)
That 1800 ms means 3 minutes.
After trying a lot of things it turns out that I can deactivate the standby feature but the thing will not remember the new setting. I can solve that by insert this code in /etc/rc.local
sdparm --flexible -6 -l --save --set STANDBY=0 /dev/sdb
But then any hard drive that I plug in the USB port will have the standby function deactivated. Which is not a good thing for other type of drives that I have.
How can I get some kind of serial ID for the new drive and issue the sdparm command only to that specific drive?
