Broken dpkg and apt-get — dpkg errors

0

I was installing ROS on my Ubuntu 18.04 system in WSL, and ran some commands that I probably shouldn't have and broke dpkg and apt-get. I am unable to install any package.

The output of dpkg --configure -a is:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of ubuntu-mono:

I've tried all the steps in How can I Resolve dpkg dependency? to no avail. Help would be appreciated!

EDIT: I believe I solved it! What I ran was
sudo apt-get install --force-all humanity-icon-theme. Forcing it allowed all the dependencies to be resolved, since the humanity-icon-theme was marked to be removed (or something) by apt.

Note to future readers: --force-all is generally considered a last-resort tool, and may have unexpected consequences.
