I cannot start the terminal. It just does nothing [on hold]
I have tried multiple ways of opening the terminal and that seem not to work. I didn't get neither any error message nor something else, it just did nothing as if I clicked on nothing. I've got Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS. Earlier I could open the Terminal, and it worked fine.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! Could you edit your question to describe the ways you tried? Have you tried switching to a virtual console, for example?

Which "multiple" ways did you try? Did you try the best way known as Ctrl+Alt+T?

Is your current user local or from a domain? If connectivity is lost with the domain, the terminal will fail to open immediately due to the system not being able to use the logged in user for the terminal.
