Xfce only terminal windows can be seen

This is what happens when I type 'startx':

Xfce only terminal windows

I have 'xrandr --auto' in my .xinitrc file, but if I remove that startx just returns a black screen. When I'm in the black screen, I can type 'exit' and when I view the logs, the only error in there is:

[ 336.633] (EE) Failed to load module "nv" (module does not exist, 0)

  • Have you looked at this? unix.stackexchange.com/questions/504313/… I don't even have a ~/.xinitrc file and also run startx with Xfce.
