Printer takes a long time to resume print jobs after encountering 'out of paper' error

0

I have already searched for solution for this one but haven't found any clear one.

I have an HP LaserJet 1018 printer which I have configured using the very useful HP-LIP software.

The problem I am facing is - whenever I happen to give a print command from any application and the printer happens to be out of paper, the printer throws the 'out of paper' error. But it takes more than 5 minutes for the printer to resume the print job. I would really like to reduce the time interval required to resume the print job. I would also like to kill the job after a set no. of retries.

I know that I need to edit either the cupsd.conf file or the printers.conf file but I have really no idea which one to edit and what lines to add or remove from them.

I would really appreciate some help here friends.
