Kubuntu reinstall stops while grub-update
I have a dual-boot system running on my laptop, both kubuntu and windows 10 on the same and only hard drive in the laptop.
Since I experienced some issues with my old kubuntu installation, I created a live-usb-stick and tried to reinstall it on /dev/sda1, which worked fine the last time I did it.
When I tried this time the installation froze at 66% while trying to perform the grub-update. After an hour I shut down the computer and was just able to boot to the "grub minimal bash".
I then booted the live-system and tried to perform a grub-update or grub-install manually which also didn't work.
I don't get any error massage. It just starts and never proceeds to do anything.
When I checked with "top" it showed that the only active process was "top" itself.

Can you check your partitions using the Live-system and gparted? Make sure you haven't deleted the Windows partition. If the installation of Kubuntu failed, you will have to try again.

That's odd, I don't know how to help you but I would try to reinstall grub from a live usb and then try to install kubuntu again (and install grub again during installation) askubuntu.com/questions/88384/…
