How to open a datafile in gnuplot?
When I type into Gnuplot command prompt: plot "datafile.dat" gnuplot gives me: Cannot find or open file "datafile.dat". I definitely have a file named datafile.dat with information in it (in file folder Downloads), but I suspect this happens because my terminal in gnuplot is set to 'qt' and the file is simply not found to be opened.
How can I solve this?

Are you invoking gnuplot from your Downloads directory? if not, you will need to include the path e.g.plot "~/Downloads/datafile.dat"
