Anyone knows why this error is displayed when trying to setup a tunnel between a home agent and a mobile node ?

The command I was running is mip6d, is a daemon for the mobility IPv6, when is trying to establish a tunnel between the home agent and the mobile node. The error shown in the log was: "could not generate persistent MAC address for ip6tnl1: No such file or directory". When I read in the internet I realized that it occurs when a virtual device is created, in my case the virtual device is ip6tnl1. But I don't know how to fix it properly.
