How to make autofs mountpoints browsable?
This question has been asked a couple of times before, but the suggested answers haven't worked for me.
I'm running Ubuntu 16.04.05.
If I cd
to autofs-mounted /m/foo/bar
and ls
, I wish to be able to see the list of directories. At the moment they only become visible like this after I, for example, try to cd
into one, say cd /m/foo/bar/foobar
.
What I have tried so far:
- in
/etc/default/autofs
:BROWSE_MODE="yes"
- in
/etc/autofs.conf
:
browse_mode = yes
browsable_dirs = yes
- in
/etc/auto.master
:+dir:/etc/auto.master.d --ghost
- in
/etc/auto.master.d/foo.bar.autofs
:/m/foo/bar /etc/auto.d/auto.foo.bar --ghost
After each adjustment to configurations, I've tried running service autofs reload
and when nothing changes, then service autofs restart
and finally service autofs forcerestart
.
I've put OPTIONS="-d"
in /etc/default/autofs.ucf-dist
. Running reload
, restart
and forcerestart
prints in the syslog respectively:
Feb 5 12:31:04 cs-228 autofs[2310091]: * Reloading automount maps...
