Thunderbolt 2 (MacBook Pro 2013) / Ubuntu 18.04 Display Issue

Good day,



I have ubuntu 18.04 running on a 2013 model MacBook Pro.



This Mac model has two thunderbolt 2 ports on the left side.



One port is working flawlessly; however, the other (nearest to the screen) is not.



Ubuntu is recognizing the display (hdmi adapter) on that port, but nothing is displayed on the monitor.



The same monitor and adapter work fine in the other port.



Any ideas on how to solve this? I tried setting it to mirrored mode using xrandr (as seen in other posts on here), but that doesnt work either.
